Who To Know: Jena Gambaccini
Blog: www.ChiCityFashion.com
Her Style:
I always have a difficult time answering this question because I love to experiment with different styles. However, I absolutely love color and I incorporate it into just about any outfit. And I love statement-making pieces.
Her Everday Look:
I like to wear outfits that can easily take me from work to an event. I sometimes end up having to go to something last minute so I always make sure I’m prepared. This means my outfits can range from from shorts and tights with a cropped sweater or wide leg pants and a bright top. I like to change it up!
Her Favorite Designers:
Proenza Schouler is #1 hands down. Others include Missoni, Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, Alexander McQueen, Prabal Gurung and C/FAN (a local designer here in Chicago).
Her Style Icons:
Margherita Missoni and Anna Dello Russo.
Her Favorite Places to shop in Chicago:
Sofia, Ikram, Blake, Tangerine, Barneys.
When did you really fall head over heels in love with fashion?
It’s so hard to say. I did always love changing my Barbies’ outfits so I’m sure it started around then. But I have to admit, I didn’t always care about clothes…I remember in first grade I wore my hair in a low ponytail with a middle part along with jeans, a t-shirt (like an oversized one) and a sweatshirt everyday. Yikes. Next thing I knew, I was obsessed with clothes! No idea what happened in the meantime.
What is your blog all about?
It’s an outlet for me to get the word out there about various aspects of fashion I’m passionate about. First and foremost being the promote all things stylish in Chicago. From designers and retailers to events around town, I want to show people the cool fashion we do have here. I also write about other things like red carpet and fashion week…because I enjoy those aspects as well. Literally whatever is on my mind that day or week, I write about it!
Why did you start ChiCityFashion.com?
It started with a Twitter account (to stalk celebrities of course) then I saw how several designers, editors and others in the industry were on this social media site as well. I finally started tweeting (which I didn’t at first…only stalking) and my “style tip tweets” got kinda popular and some suggested I started a blog. I thought that having an outlet that allows more than 140 characters wouldn’t be such a bad idea. So I started ChiCityFashion!
What are some of your life fashion goals?
As long as I’m still involved in fashion in some way, shape or form I’ll be happy. I love so many aspects it’s difficult for me to pinpoint. But I am into this fashion social media thing. Maybe I’ll stick to that for a while. I like to play things by ear though…we’ll see!
What advice do you have for girls interested in fashion and blogging?
Be honest and authentic. It seems like some people just start blogging in hopes of becoming famous [in the blogger world] and getting free stuff. However, you can see right through that, and there’s no point in starting a blog unless you know what you’re talking about and have something unique to bring to the table. There’s a lot of fashion blogs out there so the best way to make yours stands out is to just be yourself.

I do like the manner in which you have presented this particular concern plus it does present me some fodder for thought. Nevertheless, because of what I have seen, I basically hope as other commentary pack on that people today remain on point and not start upon a tirade regarding the news of the day. Still, thank you for this exceptional piece and whilst I do not really concur with this in totality, I value the perspective.
