Couture Extensions & Salon
What made you fall in love with hair and turn it into your career?
It has always been a dream of mine to do hair since I can remember. I grew up here in Chicago and started cosmetology school when I was 15 and have now been licensed for 8+ years. I recently moved back to Chicago, I was living in LA. I owned a salon in Santa Monica where I continue to travel back and forth to for clients.
When it comes to hair it seems everyone wants it long! What are your best tips for achieving long healthy hair!
Get a trim! Everyone trying to grow out their hair avoids getting trims. It is so vital to growing out your hair. If you don’t trim your ends they will split and break off making the growing out processes actually much longer! So my biggest advice if you want healthy, long hair is to get a monthly trim.
There are always so many new hair trends that can be damaging to hair aka color, how do you feel about changing your hair with the trends?
Theres limitations. You can customize each trend to the client so that it’s more of a subtle change. We all love change, it’s fun it just needs to be done carefully. Go for subtle highlights in the summer rather than going platinum blonde or try a different tone in the winter rather than going dark.
Who could benefit from getting hair extensions?
Hair extensions aren’t just for celebrities anymore. Whether you have short, thick, long or even thinning hair there is a perfect option for you. It’s amazing how you can quickly transform your hair with extensions.
What is your favorite way to wear your hair on a daily basis?
You can usually spot me with a pony tail. I am so busy with work and always on the go so I usually don’t take the time to do my own hair so big voluminous ponies work great for me.
What are some of your everyday hair care products?
I have so many favorites. I have really fine hair so I love the Blow products. They are great for creating the illusion of fullness. I also love my Rockaholic dry shampoo by TIGI.
What are some of your favorite styling tools?
I love the Enzo Milano curling rod. It’s so versatile and I love the vintage waves you can create with it. I would have to say my all time fav look would be created with just a round brush and blowdryer!
Are there any exciting hair trends coming up for spring and summer?
Color! We’ve been in the “natural” phase for awhile. We’ll be seeing much more creative pops of color, also the reverse ombre will be a huge trend.
