With Chicago's bipolar weather during the winter, taking care of my skin has not been easy. It will be below zero one day and warm the next (warm to us Chicagoan's). Especially with all the studying and travelling I have been doing, my skin has been well, disgusting. I rarely ever break out and if I do it's a zit or two. But within the past few weeks it has been more than a few and I've reached my limit! Getting rid of acne in the winter is hard because you don't want to dry out your skin too much since it is so dry outside. If your skin is too dry it will start working double time to produce oil and make up for it. Stress and junk food have also played a factor into my skin's break outs. I don't get much sleep at school and eat cafeteria food a lot so it really effects my skin. I'm working on eliminating those things and have changed my skin care routine up a lot. I've already seen results within just a couple days of changing my routine. I think the main reason is the Dermalogica products. My mom always raves about this line and of course being her child I make fun of her. However, she bought a Dermalogica kit for my brother, who has also been breaking out, and within a day or two we saw results. It was crazy! Of course we didn't like to admit that Mom was right but it was just too good to be true. Along with the Dermologica kit I use a heavier moisturizer for the winter at night to make sure my skin stays soft. Here are my favorite products that are helping me get back on track!
At night I take my makeup off with my Clean & Clear face wipes. I take my makeup off before I wash my face so that when I wash my face I'm getting at my pores not just getting my makeup off. After a long day I like to use a scrub to exfoliate my skin so I use Benefit's Refined Finish. I then go into using my new Dermalogica kit's clearning gel and spot treatment. Afterwards I apply my Kiehl's moisturizer. When I wake up I use the Dermalogica clearing skin wash to gently wash all the products off along with any overnight build up. I then put on my Ole Henrikson Truth Serum and Dermalogica Clearing Mattifier. If it's going to be really cold I'll even put on some more Kiehl's cream. I apply my eye cream and then whatever makeup I want to wear. Whenever I shower I like to exofliate and put a mask on to let the steam really clear my pours. Usually I do that about every two or three days. It seems like a lot but I like trying new products and seeing what works. If I had to limit it down I'd say you'd need a scrub, gentle face wash, moisturizer, serum, and eye cream. These products are already dramatically improving my skin!
